Let’s chat about fascia

Fascia? What the hell is that? Even after being in the industry since 2005, I will be completely transparent in saying – I had never even heard of fascia until I encountered Ashley Black on Facebook. I saw this tool that claimed it would reduce the site of cellulite….hahaha, yeah right I thought. Then I remembered, the more I learn the more I realize I don’t know and having an open mind and exploring has never served me wrong. So I thought – $100, I’ve spent $100 on worse…why not?

Upon buying this thing off Facebook, I was encouraged to join her Facebook group – at the time the largest in the world full of women supporting women. Totally my jam, ladies building each other up, being vulnerable with their experiences so others can learn from them and celebrating successes…hell yes!!! Within this group, I started learning more about this Ashley Black lady and found myself quite fascinated by her. I started using this tool as I was instructed to (lots of YouTube videos and tutorials on her website and Facebook group) and I found I was lifting heavier, was more flexible and I had an inch off each thigh in a matter of 3 weeks. Ok, she’s on to something, she has a book…I am going to read this book.

What did I find? Ashley healed her body from some extensive issues by healing her fascia. Ashley wanted to help women see their worth and find value in themselves as when a woman is happy and thriving the entire home does better. When the home is better, it spreads to each place each member of the home goes to…making the community better, when the community is better, it just keeps spreading…this, my friends is the ripple effect of healing! So, to really get to know Ashley and her mission – read her book, the rest of this blog is my interpretation of what I learned from her.

Fascia – is connective tissue with no beginning or end. As Ashley says, think of an orange. You have the skin and then you white stuff right under the skin. If you look close that white stuff spreads all throughout the orange but gets thinner and looks like a web of some sorts. Now the orange is your skin, the thick white under that is the fascia that changes as it goes through the juice of the orange, the juice being like muscles. Hopefully that makes sense, as understanding this will help you throughout this whole blog.

Like any other part of the body, fascia can become sick and damaged through toxins ingested or applied. Fascia can also become sick and damaged through emotions, injuries, autoimmune diseases, lack of movement, improper movement, poor diet and dehydration. All of these things inhibit energy and blood from properly circulating. Fascia blasting causes friction and stimulates blood flow. Blood is the healing juice of your body – it delivers oxygen and nutrients to every single cell in your body and removes toxins and carbon dioxide from every single cell. We want this healing juice flowing freely so it can do it’s job. Restoring the fascia aids in the healing of muscles and joints as well. Endless testimonials can be found in the Facebook group page of humans no longer needing surgery (rotator cuff, back, carpal tunnel, knee/ankle surgery are just a few to name) along with weight loss, tighter skin, reduced cellulite.

While the medical world is just starting to discuss how emotions effect your body, we can find ancient cultures that are thousands of years old knowing this. This next part is not up for debate, if you don’t believe that emotions can become trapped in the body and cause injuries, autoimmune diseases and other issues you are simply misinformed. It is fact whether modern medicine will discuss it or not. Fascia blasting can loosen up these stuck emotions, so if one is unaware of this, the emotional response during fascia blasting can seem like a shock. Emotions are meant to be felt and worked through at the time, not stuffed and buried alive. Emotions buried alive will come back with a vengeance much stronger than they were upon the incident happening. So deal with your shit. For the shit you have not dealt with, fascia blasting will help you.

I have personally had emotional moments and I have multiple clients just breakdown and start crying during a blast session. I have also had clients come back to me sharing memories and emotions that came through after the session. Releasing stuck emotions allow stagnant energy to be moved which allows for healing to take place. This is a necessity to healing any disease within the body – I could also write a book on this, and there are many books written, so if you are questioning this part I highly encourage you to seek more information to expand your knowledge base. Recommended authors are Dr. Sue Morter, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Medical Medium (Anthony William) Vianna Stibel and Louise Hay are just a few to name.

There are times that our bodies are so damaged that exercise is not even an option. Lack of movement, improper movement and injuries can be just a few examples as to why the body is so damaged it can exercise. Damaged fascia can be one of the culprits to this, so by using fascia blasting one can restore blood flow and gain the ability to exercise with proper movement. Once a client goes from not being able to properly exercise to using fascia blasting which allows for exercise, I highly recommend continuing the fascia blasting as it should be a lifelong self care practice. It is also an awesome tool to alleviate muscle soreness after exercise (or any activity that leaves the body sore)

While fascia blasting is great, one will see better results when it is partnered with The Big 3. I have written blogs and spoken about The Big 3 on my podcast, but if this is your first time tuning in, The Big 3 are the biological, fundamental, must – haves of every single human on the planet for a foundation of health.

The Big 3 –

1. Hydration

2. Nutrients

3. Movement

Without these 3 things, the human body will fail at any and all plans eventually. Hydration must come in the form of pure water – the only additives can be essential oils or fruits/veggies…nothing else, no carbonation, no energy squirts, no flavorings…pure, uncarbonated, clean water. Nutrients will vary some form person to person but know that their are basic, biological, fundamental necessities for the human body to function. We all need fats, protein, carbs, vitamins and minerals. Spend some time figuring out your equation for your success! Movement – the blood is the healing juice of the body. It delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells and removes carbon dioxide and wastes from the cells. The body must be moved so the blood can flow through the body doing its job.

As always, there is plenty more to say about all of this, but this baseline information is valuable in itself.
